Experience has ‘gone fishing’

CITY RAIL has lost decades of experience from its ranks with the retirement of another three Lithgow railwaymen.

The auditorium at Club Lithgow was packed at the weekend for a retirement function at which the guests of honour were Len Bingham, Garry Thompson and Henry Prazner.

The three now retiring drivers came from second generation railway families.

Len Bingham’s father Stan was a driver.

So too was Garry Thompson’s father Neville.

Henry Prazner’s dad, Ted, was the gardener at the Lithgow Loco Depot.

Quite a number of former Lithgow railwaymen came back to Lithgow from distant locations for the retirement function.
