IT was day of non-stop activities at Portland Central School as they celebrated Education Week.
The infants and primary students enjoyed a presentation from Little Athletics encouraging students to actively participate in a range of sports as demonstrated in the London 2012 Olympics.
Students were placed in mixed teams and competed for different countries.
Activities included weightlifting, rowing, gymnastics, wrestling, basketball, swimming and shot put.
The large crowd of parents enthusiastically cheered on all the athletes.
Students from Kindergarten to Year 7 then had the opportunity to participate in an AFL skills lesson implemented by the Great Western Sydney Giants.
The AFL doesn’t stop there, with more footy clinics commencing tomorrow from 3.30pm to 4.30pm at Saville Park.
These footy clinics are free and will run until Friday September 21.
All students from Kindergarten to Year 6 are welcome to come and join the fun.
To wrap up the event, a barbecue was held for students, teachers, parents and community members.
The Education Week celebrations were a huge success, and thoroughly enjoyed by all.
The AFL has also invited Portland Central students to perform at half time at Skoda Stadium (Sydney Showground, Homebush) when GWS Giants play Melbourne on Saturday September 1.
