THE stage footlights continue to shine brightly on former Lithgow Theatre Group member Darienne Knight-Monaghan who now plies her trade around the Tweed Heads area.

Over the years Daz has been involved both in theatre as an actor and director for over 25 years and was one of the many local stars that entertained Lithgow crowds .
She has an impressive port folio and along with dozens of local performances with the Lithgow Theatre Group appeared in TV commercials, was an extra in moves 'The Girl from Moonooloo' starring Jacki Weaver and 'The Burning Man' starring James Mason.
Daz has performed at a number of eisteddfods winning best supporting actress for her portrayal of Carol in 'Is This Where We Come From' and also took out the Adjudicators' award for her performance in a one woman show.
Born and bred in Lithgow, she was an employee of the Lithgow Mercury and in the Police communications office before travelling to Edinburgh, Scotland where she stayed for a number of years and then returned to Australia where she travelled around our vast country with her husband Darryl Monaghan - another Lithgow resident who was well known for his sporting prowess in a number of sports.
They finally settled around the Tweed Heads area where they have been for several years.
Her love of the theatre continued to burn brightly and joined the Tweed Theatre Company and her expertise was quickly recognised when she was nominated for the prestigious Golden Palm Award.
"I still love the theatre.
"When I was in Lithgow, the Group had some outstanding actors and directors who were equal to any I have been involved with anywhere.
"I have fond memories of my time with the Lithgow Group and still love acting."
Daz has just finished starring in '2 Doors Down' with the Murwillumbah Theatre Group written by Kelly McLoughlin-Wilden with the play receiving rave reviews.
She appeared as June Rowe, and her experience and knowledge of the theatre has proved a great education and inspiration to the younger members of the cast.
Daz says she hopes that she will be performing for many years to come saying: 'hopefully there will be some old grandmother parts available for beat up geriatric actors like me."
