Since the 2006 Census Lithgow's socio-demographic landscape has greatly changed, whereby, there has been an increase of people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds choosing to live in Lithgow.
The event was co-organised by multicultural worker, Pim Pruksachuen and adolescent and family counsellor, Meg Benson.
Forty five participants from eight different countries attended.
People from Thailand, China, Malaysia, Holland, India, Philippine, Australia and Germany.
They brought a plate of food in to share with everyone as food is such a big part of culture which gave everyone a chance to try something new from other cultures.
The entertainment started with classical Indian dancer – Niki Shepherd, “Our Vibrations” Andy Busuttil and John Robinson who played Oud and Darabuka with melodies from Asia Minor and the Middle East.
The day followed with fantastic Aboriginal music and stories by Bob Sutor which was enjoyed by all especially when he got some of the audience up on stage to participate.
It was an opened door for who ever felt like dancing and the group had a lot of fun, especially the children.
It was a very successful day — one where everyone felt they belonged.
