The event was hosted by Mayor Maree Statham and attended by members of both council and community to celebrate this wonderful new addition to one of Lithgow’s most awe inspiring attractions.
Cr Statham was delighted with the finished product, believing the new boardwalk would help the disadvantaged appreciate the view and also help the local tourism industry.
“I would suggest our locals make the trip up here to appreciate the sight throughout all seasons.
“It’s also my aim to get a telescope installed so people can gain a further appreciation for our beautiful countryside.”
Dan Smith, a local resident and member of the Lithgow Access Disability Committee, has suffered a disability from birth and has made regular trips to the lookout all of his life.
“My dad had to carry me here before because my wheelchair couldn’t handle the terrain.
“Now I can come here and enjoy the view for myself.”
Also present was Peta Fenton, the great grand daughter of Sir Joseph Cook, to help launch the new feature.
“This is not only great for people with disabilities, but the elderly as well.
“For me this boardwalk represents possibilities, and what good people can accomplish when trying to improve the lives of others.”
