When the Lizards came up against the Cougars in the grand final it was always going to be a tight game.
Lizards had experience with older members while the Cougars had youth on their side with the guidance of an experienced coach.
For the first two digs the score had Cougars in the lead with a score of 3-2 and both teams were eager to prove a point.
For the first time Wallerawang Baseball had the Sydney Major League umpires calling the game and both teams did not want to disappoint.
It was half way through the third dig that the game turned, after coach to the Cougars was transported to hospital when he took a ball in the mouth, and the Lizards pulled away with the lead.
Without the help from senior team player, David 'Donks' Dowler, Cougars had a hard time holding on while the Lizards took advantage of the opportunity that opened up to them.
The final score was 14-4 Lizards way with the Cougars side coming away stronger from the experience.
Best for the Cougars side were Jason Lane, Pete Munday, Ben Foody, Joel Cameron and Jack Rainsford.
Lizards best were Aaron Bailey, John Kearney, Pete Lewis and Tony Oldfield.
Peter Nunan from the Lizards team was named as most valuable player of the grand final for his leadership and good sportsman skills.
The Wallerawang Baseball Association would like to thank all their sponsors, canteen helpers and scorers for the season.
All players and the association also sends a cheerio to Donks Dowler and hope he is on the mend.
The presentation night will be held at the Wallerawang Bowling Club on Saturday, May 3 and starts at 5.30pm sharp.
The Association would like to thank the Lithgow Mercury for the season's coverage.
