MAD MONDAY (or in this case Mad Sunday) is a peculiar tribal ritual where footballers mark the end of their season by carrying on in a manner that to most people would appear to be a waste of a good day off work.
Usually accompanied by copious quantities of booze these end of season ‘celebrations’ often give the sport a bad name.
And that would appear to be the case in Portland on Sunday when several young males cavorted naked in the park near the Portland Bowling Club.
Callers to the Mercury were not impressed as the performance came around 10.30 in the morning when there were women and children about.
Even worse around 2.30 a member of the same group is alleged to have exposed himself in the Portland supermarket and in the street outside.
Police confirmed investigations are under way into the behaviour of some members of the Portland Colts football club who played, and well and truly lost, their final game of the season on Saturday.
They said CCTV footage from the supermarket is being examined and it is likely charges will be laid in relation to the incident and the earlier behaviour in the park. “
It wasn’t a pretty sight,” a caller said.
