Downhill racing to return to Lithgow

ON August 18 and 19 the Central Tablelands Mountain Bike Club will join forces with Rocky Trail Entertainment to host round three of the NSWMTB State Downhill series, sponsored Red Ass Mexican foods.

The event will take place on the brand new Pony Xpress trail in Lithgow’s Sheedys Gully and riders from across the state and around the country and chaffing at the bit to come and test out the much hyped trail.

Built to world best practice, images and video of the trail are already been used by the International Mountain Biking Association in seminars around the globe promoting sustainable trail design and building techniques.

Saturday will be an action packed practice day while the real racing gets under way from noon Sunday.

The Lithgow Pony Club will be providing a cracking barbecue and everyone is invited to come up and check out the thrills and spills and encouraged to cheer on the locals.

Along with a big contingent of riders from the Central Tablelands and Blue Mountains local club members in for a good chance at the podium include trail builders Matt Walker, Luke Newcombe and Mal McManus who all take on the big guns in the elites and juniors Dan Bender, Lyndon Nugent and Liam Daily in under 19s and Joel Willis in under 15s.
