Bracey's Lookout a tourist magnet

A PROPOSAL for a formal walking track to encourage visitors to trek up the mountain to the new look Bracey Lookout has been favourably received in Lithgow Council.

The suggestion was contained in a notice of motion by retiring councillor Grahame Danaher.

His proposal is to create a walk beginning at the railway interchange and continuing through Cook Plaza, along to the top of Cook Street then up the hillside with a properly constructed track to terminate at Bracey Lookout with its views over the valley.

From there visitors have the option to explore further into the Hassans Walls reserve should they wish.

The Bracey Lookout has recently undergone its first major refurbishment in decades as the first stage of an upgrade of facilities in the reserve.

The new work will be officially re-dedicated as a memorial to the Bracey family’s contribution to the retail life of Lithgow at a ceremony on site at 4pm on Wednesday August 29.
