A blooming success story for Rydal

RYDAL is one of our smallest local villages but the proud residents achieve big things.

In fact they punch well above their weight and since creating the annual Rydal daffodil festival in 2002 the Rydal Village Association has donated $90,152 to charities in the Lithgow district.

It’s doubtful if some much bigger centres around the region can beat that.

The official opening of the festival traditionally takes place a few days before the festival gets into full swing and this year is set down for Tuesday September 4.

It will be a combined effort by landscape designer and garden writer Catherine Stewart and horticulturalist, garden writer and ABC broadcaster Helen Young.

The big weekends of 2012 Daffodils at Rydal will be September 8 and 9 and 15 and 16 and details will appear in the Lithgow Mercury as those dates get nearer.
