Mikkayla Jersovs and Kaitlyn Trounce to follow their dreams

IT has been Olympic fever for the past week or so, but two young Lithgow gymnasts, Mikkayla Jersovs and Kaitlyn Trounce, will have their own gold medal dreams when they attend the NSW gymnastics championships to be held in Gosford.

Mikkayla (aged 15) and Kaitlyn (12) have been in outstanding form all season and at the Parramatta tournament finished with top scores to qualify for the state championships.

Both girls train at the PCYC and are excited to be going up against the state’s best.

Although still extremely young they have a number of years experience behind them.

Mikkayla started gymnastics 10 years ago while Kaitlyn has eight years and both have a long list of gymnastic medals and ribbons in their collection.

Their coaches are Judi Braat and Jenni Leach who are full of praise for the girls’ talents, attitude and dedication.

Mikkayla and Kaitlyn will be contesting the Senior Level 3 division and performing on the beam, the vault, bars and floor routines.

The girls joined together to say gymnastics is a great way to stay fit, meet people from other clubs, make friends and above all have a lot of fun.

“We are very competitive, but if we don’t win, we will know we have given our best. We thank our coaches, the PCYC and above all our parents who have been a great support to us.”

Mikkayla is the daughter of Vicki Green and Kaitlyn the daughter of Belinda and Matt Trounce.
