Main Street robbery

THE Mid Town service station in Main Street has been targeted by a thief in need of a cigarette.

The 32-year-old female console operator was approached by a male with a tan complexion wearing a blue jacket, blue tracksuit pants, blue hooded jumper and white joggers at 8.10pm on Thursday night.

The man threatened the female with an object similar to a syringe before forcing the cigarette cabinet behind the counter open.

The male then escaped from the premises with cigarettes and was last seen heading towards Main Street on foot.

The console operator received scratches to her arm during the incident from the object used to threaten her during the robbery.

Police are investigating the incident and are asking the public if they saw anything relating to the robbery.

This is the second time such an incident has occurred.

The first was several years ago before the site was redeveloped.
