Balloon capital of Australia

CANOWINDRA balloonists Jan and Graham Kerr along with chairperson of Canowindra Challenge Arthur Falconer are excited to announce Canowindra has been sanctioned to hold the 18th Australian National Balloon Championships in 2013.

Canowindra has always been associated with hot air ballooning and long been known popularly as the balloon capital of Australia.

Canowindra first hosted the Australian National Balloon Championships in 1988 and in recent years the ballooning community has coming back to the lush and picturesque valleys.

After successfully holding the 17th Australian National Balloon Championships in 2011 and a smaller local competition in 2012 Canowindra successfully held off the competition in the bid to host the championship event in 2013.

With the experience gained over recent years and the support of world class international directors the organisers offer the best competitive ballooning event in Australia.

The level of competition in the environment which is widely regarded as providing the premier flying conditions Canowindra is assured of attracting the best of Australian balloonists.

The nationals will be held from April 20 to 27, 2013.
