Portland Cement Works sets the scene

YOU can get away with just about anything these days if you can convince enough people that what you’re doing is really ‘cool’ even when it’s, er, more than a little rough around the edges.

Take for example hip hop and rap.

What passes for ‘music’ is actually a tuneless rapid fire dialogue usually liberally sprinkled with obscenities and anti social rant.

But there are heaps of impressionable ‘music’ lovers out there who think it’s great and they make ‘rappers’ around the world rich.

Portland has been having its own experience of rappery with a video clip being filmed in recent days amid the relics of the old cement works.

It’s got a bigger film crew than Gone With The Wind and the activity has attracted a lot of curious interest. Our teen scene correspondent tells us the clip is for some rapper named ‘360’ who we’d never heard of until now but is apparently big these days in certain quarters.
