THE Storm Junior Rugby League Club was overwhelmed with the turn out for their holiday clinic held at the Tony Luchetti Sportsground.
The clinic was free and open to youngsters from all over the district and it was good to see so many players from Wallerawang, Portland, Blackheath and Lithgow represented.
There were also a number of soccer and hockey players at the clinic with all the boys and girls reporting a great day.
“We were overwhelmed with the roll-up,” one of the organisers Kyle Egan said.
“One of the highlights of the day was the appearance of two Penrith Panther NRL stars Etu Uaisele and Geoff Daniela who play in the centres and on the wing for the Panthers.
“We would like to thank them for giving up their time to promote their sport.
“Etu and Geoff mingled with the youngsters, signed autographs and had their pictures taken with them and no doubt picked up a number of new Panther fans in the process.
“Thanks to all the coaches and volunteers that helped out during the day particularly those who manned the barbecue.”
Coaches on the day were Wade Judd (CRL), Mick Armstrong (ARL) and Peter Morris who did a great job looking after the mini and mod league kids, Lithgow Wolves premier league coach Graeme Osborne, Glen Longdon, John Legge and former North Sydney Bears and Eel player Peter McPhail, former Country, Western Division and Group 10 representative Kip Miranda and current Wolves’ front rower Chris Rhodes.
During the clinic, the boys and girls enjoyed a free sausage sizzle and drink.
Overall it was a huge success and already plans for another is in the pipeline.
Special thanks to the chefs for the day and also to the sponsors Holcim Concrete, CFMEU, Power Credit Union, Workies Wolves and Centennial Coal.
