Rain fails to dampen the spirits of the juniors

THE Lithgow Junior Football Association held a school holiday football clinic at the Lithgow Marjorie Jackson fields with the rain falling for most of the day.

The miserable, cold weather failed to dampen the spirits of the girls and boys who enjoyed sloshing around in the rain and mud.

After all as one young boy said: “Football is a winter sport isn’t it?”

Coaches for the day were brought down from Bathurst and they were Jesse and Dale Lane and Bruce Grassick who put the young football players through their paces and organised games between those present.

The junior players really turned on the skills with the coaches impressed with the high level of skills the youngsters displayed.

Some of the juniors were back in action on the weekend in their competitions while some were still off for the holidays.

Next Saturday will see all the age groups back with those who attended the clinic keen to show off what they had learned.
