LOOKING for accommodation around Lithgow this weekend? Don’t waste your time.
According to the Lithgow Visitors Centre the ‘full house’ signs are up all over town — in Lithgow, Hartley, Wallerawang, the lot.
And while Greater Lithgow always has problems coping with big demand at any given time, this weekend’s rush began months ago when bookings were flooding in for the visitors here for the State Under 13 boys hockey championships.
Many arrived on Thursday and got in some practice in the rain ahead of yesterday’s competition kick off with games continuing through the weekend.
The Visitor Centre admits to being swamped with applications for assistance with accommodation.
Most of the overflow has apparently headed for venues at Mt Victoria and Blackheath to allow their business people to share the joy.
Pity about the less than welcoming weather but that’s just about normal whenever a major event is scheduled in the valley in winter.
