VIEW's black and white party

ONE hundred and twenty View Club members and special guests enjoyed their 43rd Birthday Luncheon this month at the Lithgow Workies with a black and white theme.

President Raelein Woodbury and program officer Belinda Honeysett excelled in preparing and presenting the venue in black and white with the help of other members of the Committee.

It looked magnificent even the raffle prizes and gifts were black and white.

Congratulations to Raelein and her committee for arranging a luncheon thoroughly enjoyed by the members and invited guests.

Guests travelled from View Clubs in the zone including Nepean, Springwood and Upper Blue Mountains.

Zone councillor Toni Thomas and Lithgow Workmans Club president Ray Warren and manager Michael Alexander were the special guests.

Ray Warren spoke on behalf of the club and noted that in 1969 when the View Club was formed we were all watching black and white TV even though it was very fuzzy, so the theme was very appropriate.

Ray gave an update on what’s happening at the Workman’s Club including the new motel.

Year Badges were presented by zone councillor Toni Thomas for 10, 30 and 40 year members.

Members receiving badges were Marie Evans 40 years, Wendy Duffy and Myreen Caddis 30 years and Marika Connelly 10 years.

Toni expressed the pleasure she got from presenting badges to long serving members.

Viewpoint “The three most important things in life to me are” was presented by Sue Banning.

Jenny Kelly followed up on one of her three important things ‘a sense of humour’ with a joke that brought the house down with laughter.

Long serving members Daphne Nielsen and Norma Flannigan cut the birthday cake along with president Raelein Woodbury.

Duet Norma Fowler on piano and Glenda Phipps singing provided the Entertainment for the afternoon with sing-a-longs and a bit of comedy.

Secretary Denise Fitzgerald presented thank you gifts on behalf of the members.

The next luncheon will be held on Wednesday, July 11 at the Workman’s Club, 11am for 11.30am start.

The trading table is P-Q-R.

Please RSVP to Secretary, Denise on 6355 4220 by Friday, 6th July for catering arrangements. Guests are always welcome, for information about View Club contact President Raelein on 6355 2227.
