AN extraordinary meeting of council has been called for tonight regarding the Zig Zag Railway.
This meeting has been called by Councillors Ticehurst and McGinnes.
Mayor Neville Castle said yesterday the extraordinary meeting had been called in spite of the fact council had immediately contacted the state government and received a ‘very good prompt reply from them with offers of help to try and overcome the problems at Zig Zag’.
“Meetings are being held between members of the Zig Zag and the government this week.
These meetings will be looking to not only accreditation but to what else may be done to have the Zig Zag fully functioning again”.
The Mayor said Council has already contacted the Zig Zag looking to meet with their executive to discuss council’s possible assistance.
“Any further meetings would seem irrelevant until after the meetings which have already been asked for are completed,’ he said.
“One can only wonder why an extraordinary meeting of council is being called for when these actions are already under way, as well as using council resources to call such a meeting.
“The request for the meeting came less than two days after the last council meeting when it could have been raised.”
