IT was a dark and dreary night, as they say in the story books, but for a group of Lithgow school students and some supportive adults it proved to be quite an adventure when they took part in the St Vincent De Paul Winter Sleepout over the weekend.
Across the state community minded people slept rough for a night to draw attention to the plight of the homeless.
The involvement of students from St Patrick’s School and La Salle Academy was not too rough but it did raised the hope-for funds for Vinnies.
Students of all ages took part but concessions were made to their tender years and their ‘sleepout’ was in the old hall at St Patrick’s School where they turned up with their pyjamas and sleeping bags and were treated to home made soup and damper before settling down for a night where it can be anticipated there was not a great deal of sleep.
