Following the fishing seminar, youngsters around the district have the opportunity to win a superb fishing pack compliments of Sportspower.
Young fisherman aged 16 years and under can win the following: ABU Garcia Rod (pink stick) 6ft 10kgs; ABU Garcia 5600 reel; Alpha landing net; Shimano fishing sandals; Shimano travel pack (bag and towel); Steve Starling Super Scaler; Shimano Waterproof key holder and lanyard; Shimano canvas wallet; telescopic knife; and two squidgy Slick Rig Lures.
The winner of the pack will be the youngster — boy or girl — who catches the biggest fish from now to December 22.
After catching their fish, they will be asked to take their catch into Wang Village Meats and Ross Mason will weigh it and record their catch.
The biggest fish at the closing date of Tuesday, December 22 will receive the fishing pack.
The fishing seminar was extremely successful when it kicked off at Barry Rushworth’s Royal Hotel on the Friday night with a formal gathering of fishing and cricket tragedies.
The doyen of Fishing Magazine correspondents Col Buckley assisted Len Pascoe with a myriad of fishing and cricket stories along with historic footage of World Series Cricket and fishing films.
Early the next morning, a host of keen fishermen threw their lines in at Wallace Lake.
Organiser Danny Whitty said: “Throwing the line in at 6 am just on sunrise at the picturesque lake was well worth the effort of dragging myself out of bed.”
Best catch on the day went to Jordan McHugh who landed a five pounder with young Sam Lane also showing his fishing skills with catches of a similar size.
A breakfast barbecue was provided by Wallerawang Tidy Towns with good support for the day coming from Baal Bone Colliery, Wang Village Meats and Wang Bakery.
The organisers thank Wang Engineering, Masta-Mix Concrete, Collins Transport, Inzitari Roadhouse, Parkside Motel, Henry Plant Hire, Barry Rushworth, Sportspower Lithgow and a number of other donors for their generous support.
