PORTLAND’S Raffan Park hosted an 18 hole stroke event with the monthly medals held in conjunction.

Sunday’s weather was great although the course played long after the previous night’s heavy rain.

The conditions did not worry the placegetters with some very good scores being returned.

Dennis Hartfield took the spoils with 71 nett with runner-up Chris Sharp hot on his heels on 72 nett.

Sharp also took out the best scratch score on the day with 73.

Balls went to Norm Ford, Mick Thorpe, Laurie Caddis, Rodney Denley and Peter Griffiths.

The fowl run winner was Chris Sharp with 19 points.

The monthly medals went to: A grade, Dennis Hart-field 71 nett; B grade, Norm Ford 77 nett; C grade Laurie Caddis 77 nett.

Portland News-agency’s nearest the pin on the 14th was won Jamie Sharp.

The club championships will be held on the weekends of March 3 and 4 and 10 and 11 so get you names on the starting sheet.
