Last year’s Lithgow Swimming Club’s triathlon was one of the success stories of the Lithgow sporting season — and it is on again on Sunday, December 6.
The triathlon caters for all ages, the young and not so young, and there are varying divisions for all fitness levels.
The divisions are:
PRELIMINARY: 200 metre swim, 10 km cycle and a 3 km run.
TRI A TRI: 50 metres swim, 1 km cycle and 500m run.
MAIN EVENT: 400 metres swim, 20 km cycle and 5 km run.
You can enter either in the team or individual events.
The Lithgow Triathlon starts and finishes at the Lithgow Swimming Pool with the course taking in a reasonably flat 5 km loop utilising roads along the picturesque streets of Lithgow.
Last year businesses got into the swing of things by entering a team or you and a couple of friends, families, sporting organisations can make up a team and enter in the Team Relay division.
This is popular as it can be split up with one team member doing a leg each.
It would be good to see the Workies Wolves rugby league club take on the Lithgow Hockey Panthers, or the indoor hockey take on soccer or some other sporting clubs taking up the challenge.
Early bird entries close on November 28 with entry fee for adults $10 and those registering after that date $15.
Junior entry fee is $5.

Triathlon spokesman Brett Haddon said: “If last year’s triathlon is any criteria, this year’s will be lots of fun and we are working hard to make the 2009 event even bigger and better and turn the day into one of Lithgow major events on the sporting calendar.
“You’ve only got a couple of weeks to get fit … so get going.”
