SPEEDWAY racing at it’s very best, proudly hosted by the Portland District Motor Sports Club, returns to the Cullen Bullen Raceway this Saturday from 4pm.
Washed out last month, this whole race meeting will be dedicated to the memory of a an absolutely incredible lady who lived and breathed speedway racing not only for her family but for the Cullen Bullen Raceway — Daphne Blackley.
She was a life member, wife of long running president Ray, mother to champion competitors Kevin and Jenny, Beryl a canteen stalwart and grandmother to Martin and Andrew who not only compete locally but at the Parramatta City Raceway with amazing success, just to name a few of her many loving grandchildren.
Daph, as she was affectionately known, was died suddenly in December after a hospital stay in Penrith.
A minute’s silence will be observed in her honour.
The starting time for the speedway racing has reverted to 4pm.
Open wheeler racing cars starring at this meeting include the amazing little Quarter Midgets, the sensational Microsprints and the beautifully restored Vintage Speedcars, the sprintcars of yesteryear, make their spectacular return. And don’t forget the stock cars contesting the yearly pointscore over four heats and possibly five — the ladies, series, super production, 1600 class, the hot new Aussie sixes and second drivers plus the juniors all racing for their new yearly pointscore.
Get set for almost six hours of non stop speedway excitement at the Action Attraction of the Central West with more than 50 events for the tin top stock cars and the very fast open wheelers.
Driving stars from Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Mudgee, Bathurst, Orange, Cowra, Canberra and Nowra will battle it out wheel to wheel on the oval track and you won’t miss one second of the action.
Come out and cheer your favourite driver to the chequered flag.
