Pockets moved into third position on the Lithgow Snooker Association competition ladder with a comprehensive 5-2 defeat of SSR.
Brett Holt gave Pockets an ideal start when he accounted for Terry McMillan.
Receiving 33 start, it was Holt who was the aggressor as he raced to an early lead but McMillan's experience saw him slowly pull his way back.
Despite the late run from McMillan, Holt went on to secure the game for Pockets 75-52.
SSR's Shannon Baer was up next when he took on Adam Caine.
Baer found himself behind early on but a gutsy comeback saw him close to within a few heading into the colours.
Caine fought hard but a determined effort from Baer saw him secure the black for a 58-53 win, squaring the games up.
Sharon Missingham responded swiftly for Pockets when she outlasted SSR's Heath Andrews.
It was tough scoring with neither player willing to give the other a sniff.
Missingham was able to withstand a late run from Andrews to secure a 42-31 win.
Leon Rust added to SSR's woes when he took on Bill Cook.
Called in to play at the last minute, Cook was finding it hard to score but a few errors from Rust had him well within striking distance.
Rust held his nerve late in the piece, going on to win the game 53-43 and lift his side to a 3-1 lead.
Jason Murray secured the game for Pockets when he beat Tom Mayers 75-21.
Murray was on fire from the get-go with steady, consistent potting giving him a massive lead midway through.
Mayers fought hard but it was not to be his night with the run of the balls in Murray's favour.
Frank Wawn salvaged a late point with a fortuitous black ball win over Todd Bates.
Bates led from the start and leading into the colours was the heavy favourite.
Wawn's tenacity saw him force a black ball game.
Bates was able to pot the black but an in off saw the seven points and the game awarded to Wawn.
Pockets won the match 5-2 with Brett Holt and Shannon Baer nominated as the standouts for their teams.
Red Sox v Helmets
Red Sox still have a chance of making the finals after another hard fought 4-3 win over competition front runners Helmets.
Gary Bender began well for Red Sox after a comprehensive 75-48 win over the inform Ian Miles.
Miles has been one of the inform players for most of the competition but a trademark performance from Bender proved too much with Bender going on to secure Red Sox's first point.
Gary Nolan made it 2-nil to Red Sox after another good performance, this time over Helmet's Sandra Chadwick.
Chadwick was in front for the most part but an inspired performance from Nolan gave him momentum throughout as he went on to take the game 65-52.
Dave Foster responded for Helmets with a hard-fought black ball win over Ian Bulkeley who got off to a flyer with a run of 29 moving him well into contention.
A few errors from Foster late in the game gifted Bulkeley a chance to take the game but an unfortunate in off on the black gave Foster a black ball win 42-39.
Red Sox's Cec Thompson found top gear with a comfortable 72-21 win over Graham Fowler.
Thompson made it difficult for Fowler to score with consistent potting of his own seeing him to a healthy lead.
Fowler didn’t have many opportunities and with Thompson in form, soon found himself well behind.
Thompson went on to secure the game and extend his team’s lead to 3-1.
Scott Trist gave Helmets a chance to win the match when he took down Jeff Stait.
Stait, forced to concede 46 start, was quick to fire but consistent pots from Trist was enough to delay Stait's comeback.
Trist was in good form from the start and was able to hang on for a deserved 82-67 win.
Needing a big win to give Helmets any chance of taking the match, Ryan Nichols went to the table against Matt Tolhurst.
However just winning would prove to be a difficult task with Tolhurst in good touch.
Despite this, Nichols was able to hang on for the win, limiting Red Sox's win to just 4-3.
Dave Foster and Cec Thompson were named deserved best and fairest for their teams.
Jiggers v Tigers
Jiggers came from behind to beat Tigers 3-2 in the remaining match at the Workmens Club.
Keith Morris got Tigers off to a good start in a come-from-behind win over Kyle Lewis.
Morris trailed for most of the game and looked to be in trouble midway through but a fight back late in the game saw him close the gap on Lewis.
Lewis hung tough but Morris proved himself too good, winning 68-52.
Mark Perry bounced back for Jiggers when he scored over Leo Keeley who has been unlucky in recent weeks and this was to continue with Perry also playing well.
Along with a run of 18, Perry ran away with the game winning 88-43 and tying the match up at 1 all.
Tony Medina restored Tiger's lead with a hard fought win over Jigger's Wayne Lewis.
In a relatively close game throughout it was Medina who eventually gained the upper hand with a steady consistent flow of points.
Medina proved to be too much to handle and aided by a run of 19 he helped himself to a 52-30 win.
On game four and it was Tiger's Rob Mitchell up against Geoff Kyle.
Kyle came to the table with his typically steady game but a steady hand from Mitchell himself was enough to see him over the line with a 55-37 win, giving Tigers a 3-1 advantage.
In the game of the match Jiggers’ Marj Lennox took on Tiger Brian Johnson who appeared to be in full control of the game.
A determined Lennox was not willing to give up as she secured blue, pink and black for a two point win, 44-42 closing the difference in games to just one.
Greg Sutton went to the table against Tigers’ captain Diane Stait with both players only requiring a win to win the match for their teams.
Receiving 12 start Sutton had the edge for most of the game with scoring very difficult.
Stait fought tooth and nail but it was to be Sutton's night as he went on to secure the game 35-23 and the match for Jiggers 4-3.
Keith Morris and Mark Perry were voted best and fairest.
Yabius v Miscues
Club Lithgow was the venue for the remaining match of the night with Yabius taking on Miscues.
The match began with a close finish when Chris Milligan took on Rob Farnsworth.
Milligan looked to be cruising for most of the game but an error on pink left Farnsworth a chance to tie.
Farnsworth took the opportunity and forced a double black only to see Milligan pot a good black off the restart to secure the win 63-56.
Phil Nightingale answered swiftly for Miscues with an emphatic 87-30 win over Brian Bentley.
Bentley started aggressively but it soon turned sour with Nightingale playing himself into form.
Nightingale was in red hot form going on to eventually secure the game, tying the match up one each.
Paul Hewitt scored 75-67 over Ritchie Bilby to regain a lead for Yabius.
Both Bilby and Hewitt were able to score freely with the lead changing throughout.
Coming down to the finish it was Bilby with the first chance to secure the game but an error on the black left Hewitt with a simple pot for the win.
Justin Nelson extended Yabius’s lead to 3-1 with a come from behind win over Matt Tattersall.
The game was split in two with Tattersall dominating the opening half and Nelson finishing strongly.
Tattersall had a chance to secure the point but a simple miss on the black left Nelson with an opening, which he took to secure a 73-72 win.
Gary Milligan sealed the win for Yabius with a very impressive 52-35 win over Kevin Slaven who had no answers for Milligan’s excellent potting as he slowly fell behind.
Milligan eventually secured the game and extended Yabius’s lead to 4-1.
Paul Wilcox salvaged some pride for Miscues when he took on Trev Cameron.
Wilcox was in good touch against an out of sorts Cameron, giving him a lead heading into the colours.
With the game still up for grabs it was Wilcox who put his hand up, securing the key balls and winning 50-37.
Despite winning four games Yabius could only manage a 4-3 win with the aggregate point going to Miscues.
Gary Milligan and Phil Nightingale were nominated as the standouts.
