Lithgow Pony Club member 16 year old Kelly Durkic has been selected to represent NSW at the recent Pony Club Nationals Championship held at Sydney International Equestrian Centre (SIEC).
The selection came following outstanding performances by Kelly at the Zone and State level over the preceding 12 to 18 months.
Pony Club Australia selected six of the best horsepersons in the State in Showjumping, Dressage, One Day Event and Mounted Games.
Kelly represented NSW on her mount Blue Mountains “Loredo” Moon in the showjumping discipline.
The whole event was run over a week-long period with four jumping events in total and 35 of the best the nation has to offer travelling from Western Australia, Tasmania, Queensland, South Australia and Northern Territory.
The National championships are only held every two years with Victoria being the host State for 2011.
Kelly gained a first placing and also two fifth finishes over the four events and was ranked fourth overall after the week-long event.
This was a great effort by Kelly who won or placed in three of the four events.
Kelly attends La Salle Academy and is the daughter of Frank and Leanne Durkic.
