Lithgow’s junior cricketers continue to develop and hone their skills as the season progresses with many recording some very impressive results.
Many are making their first foray into the game in the new centralised under 10 competition while others are building on the foundation of skills developed over several years.
Results from round three are:
UNDER 10
Club Lithgow Tigers and Club Lithgow Warriors played a game in high spirits.
Kobe Hunter (27) and Dylan Brownett (24) showed great style with the bat, while Nicholas Brownett, Bonnie Goodsell and Jarred Gill all took wickets for Tigers.
For warriors, Mitchell Brain top-scored with 11 runs while Matt Deveigne took 2-18 from 4.
Club Lithgow Blues and Club Lithgow Redbacks also played a friendly match.
Sam Gray was in fine form for Blue with his 21 runs, while Logan Inwood also batted well to score 18.
Campbell Ferguson (6), Connor Legge (4) and Jacob McCollough (4) were in the wicket taking circle.
For Redbacks, Braiden Walsh showed good form to score 14, with Jordan Fordham (2) and McKensie Stewart took wickets.
UNDER 12
Portland 6-147 defeated Hornets 7-39 in a one-sided match.
Sam Cameron (42 not out) and Blayne Sharp (43) led the way with the bat for the Portland side while Dane Nicholson was best in the bowling department to take 2-7 from 3.
Hornets’ Jarrod Simpson showed good form to score 16 runs while Jordan Smith (2-19 from 4) and Eli Stack (2-16 from 4) showed they are promising prospects with the ball.
Valley 5-71 defeated La Salle 9-63 in a low-scoring match.
Toby Kenniff was classy for Valley with a knock of 33, while Carol Olsen (2-6 from 3) and Gerard Roebuck (2-15 from 3) did the job with the ball.
For La Salle it was Harry Bender who shone with the bat for 16.
Wickets were taken by Ryan Bilby, Bender, Zac Missingham and Max Young.
UNDER 14
Valley Vipers 6-112 defeated Wallerawang White all out for 90.
Vipers were best served with the bat by Daniel Rodgers (45) and Connor Roebuck (37 not out).
Roebuck also performed well with the ball to take 4-15 from 3.
Joel Gurney was also among the wickets to take 2-17 from 3.
Wallerawang White’s Astin Nunan was in top gear with his 39 not out, well supported by Luke Williams (21).
Phil Stanton was the main man with the ball to take 3-5 from 5 while Nunan also chipped in with 2-3 from 5.
Hornets 5-127 defeated Wallerawang (score not provided).
Lucas Castillo had a great day with the bat to score an unbeaten 54 retired.
Ben Newham was also among the runs with a fine knock of 42 not out.
Chris Oldman was best with the ball to take 2-17 from 4.
For Wallerawang, N Thomlinson (16) was in good form with the bat while A Bowen was best with the ball to take 2-3 from 4.
Valley Green 2-84 defeated La Salle 9-78.
Sam Williams was in great form for the Valley Green side with a massive 44 not out, while Aizen Takahira also batted well for his 24 not out.
Nathan Mierczak was in great form with the ball, taking 3-4 from 5.
Eli Felton also bowled well to take 3-5 from 3.
Jon Cronin was the in-form player for la Salle, scoring 51 retired and taking 2-3 from 3.
UNDER 16
La Salle 8-134 defeated Valley 8-63.
Beau Parker was in fine shape for La Salle to score 48, with Michael Richardson also performing well for his 28.
Peter Cronin’s fantastic figures ended at 3-1 from 3 while Kyle Bradford also bowled well to take 3-10 from 4.
For Valley, Harry Knight (28) and Ryan Anlezark (13) were best with the bat.
Joel Brogan (2-6 from 3) and Daniel Hart (2-7 from 3) were in form with the ball.
