04 Feb, 2012 03:00 AM
ISOTOPES took the lead in the Shane Wright District Baseball competition with a win over arch rivals Lizards.

Both sides are sponsored by the Lithgow Court House Hotel and it is always an extra special match with both sides battling for bragging rights.

Like last year’s grand final, Isotopes inflicted a big loss on the Lizards taking out the match 20-12.

Isotopes were in rare form with Harris Barrington, Derryn Cluff, Blair Peters, Grant Buttigieg and Chris Williams outstanding.

Lizards could not get into the match with their best being Bec Phillips, Peter Lewis, Marcus Phillips, Peter Lewis and Marcus Beckett.

In the other match, it was a battle of the Wallerawang teams with Cougars taking on the Raptors.

The two sides are sponsored by the Wallerawang Bowling Club with Cougars taking out the honours 18-7.

Best for Cougars were the experienced Geoff Hall, Nathan Reeding, Josh Denley, Joel Cameron and Arron Scanlon.

For Raptors, Sam Cameron, Mick Case, Mitch Van der Haar, Josh Howarth and Arron Dellabosca stood out.

The baseball association wishes Andrew Slattery and Mick Williams a speedy recovery following their injuries.

Tomorrow’s games has Cougars will taking on Isotopes at 11am sharp followed by the Raptors and Lizards match at 1.30pm.
