Impressive start by the juniors

Lithgow’s junior cricketers once again registered some impressive results last weekend.

The second round of matches in the 2008-09 season were played in fine conditions.

Results from the games are:

UNDER 10

Club Lithgow Tigers played Club Lithgow Blues.

Sam Gray (18) and Josh Stoffles (3-16) played well for Blues while Logan Hunter (18) and Dylan Brownett (2-10) stood out for Tigers.

The match between Club Lithgow Redbacks and Club Lithgow Bushrangers was an entertaining one with Murray Stewart (36) and Blake Sheil (3-13) displaying their skills for Redbacks.

Isaac Fardell (20) and Ronan Kearney (2-6) were in good form for Bushrangers.

UNDER 12

Valley 5-125 defeated Wallerawang 7-62.

Gerard Roebuck (36 not out) and Joel Willis (31) were the stand outs with the bat for Valley, while Jordan Inzitari (2-7 from 3) and J Bott (2-7 from 3) performed well in the bowling department.

Wallerawang’s Mitch Redding was once against among the runs with his knock of 25 while Luke Davern showed form with the ball to take 3-13 from 5.

La Salle 6-103 defeated Hornets 8-63.

Harry Bender (36) and Matt Platts (21) were best with the bat for La Salle while Darren Lutschini (2-1 from 2) and Ryan Hickey (2-2 from 2) did best with the ball.

For Hornets, Will Lawson top scored with 12 while Brayden Bury took a wicket.

UNDER 14

Valley Vipers 2-147 defeated Hornets 9-39.

The Vipers hit the big time with Josh Lewis retiring on 52 and Sam Mostyn making 45 not out.

Lewis was also the mainstay of the bowling department, taking 2-0 from 2.

Daniel Rodgers also bowled well to take 2-10 from 2.

Hornets’ Ben Newham batted well for his 22 not out, while Lucas Castillo was a wicket taker.

Wallerawang Blue 8-103 defeated La Salle 10-33.

Brett Matthew (31 not out) and Dean Cornish (22) were best with the bat for Wallerawang Blue, while Aaron Bowen (2-3 from 2) and Nathan Redding (2-1 from 2) performed with the ball.

Ben Glasson top scored for La Salle with nine runs.

The bowlers fared better with Jack Bilby (3-14 from 3) and Jon Cronin (2-7 from 5) stand outs.

Valley Green 3-144 defeated Wallerawang 1 8-50.

Valley Green were among the runs with fine knocks going to Zach Sharp (51 retired), Lachlan Sharp (49) and Caleb Hanrahan (20 not out).

Eli Felton (2-3 from 2) and Sam Forbes (2-2 from 2) bowled well.

Phil Stanton and Harley Henning led the way for the Wang side with respective scores of 22 and 11 not out.

Astin Nunan took a wicket.

UNDER 16

Hornets 3-40 defeated La Salle 10-37.

Josh Howarth (12) and Daniel Mason (11 not out) were the top scorers for Hornets with Mason also among the wickets, taking 3-3 from 3.

Chris Redding also bowled well for figures of 3-6 from two.

For La Salle, Beau Parker top scored and wickets were taken by Michael Richardson and Luke Faithorn.
