It has not taken all round young sportsman Eli Felton to swap his rugby league boots to his cricket boots when he was one of the stars for Mitchell under 14 on the weekend.
Eli, who attends La Salle, is one of Lithgow Storm Rugby League Club’s best young players and quickly turned his hand to his Summer sport.
He is Lithgow’s sole representative in the Mitchell Cricket Council under 14 side and playing his first game with the side quickly showed he will be a good acquisition.
Playing the strong Lachlan side on Sunday at Orange’s Jack Brabham Park in hot conditions, Mitchell won the toss and chose to bat on what looked a batsmen’s paradise.
They quickly found themselves down four wickets for less than 50 runs.
Eli took the crease at number five batsman and quickly settled the ship.
He batted solidly in a 40 run partnership before being run out for 12 after holding up his end for his batting partner.
Mitchell went on to score an impressive189 runs.
Mitchell bowled extremely well bundling Lachlan out for under 100 runs for a first up win.
Eli showed his all round skills by fielding well in the stifling conditions taking a sharp catch at square leg to cap a solid start to his representative season.
He will again be donning the pads for Mitchell this Sunday against Macquarie in Dubbo.
Locally Eli plays with the Valley junior and senior cricket clubs and is the son of Paul and Joanne Felton of Lithgow.
