IT is exciting times for Portland’s Megan Embleton who is only days away from her trip to Brazil with the Australian Vikings Youth Futsal team that will tour Brazil’s Centre of Excellence.
The tour will start next Monday (November 21) and go through to December 9.
Megan said: “I am really looking forward to representing the Australian Vikings.
“Football is a religion in Brazil and they have some of the best players in the world and the tour will be great for my futsal-soccer development,” Megan said.
“To experience the Brazilian culture and people will be excellent.
“I am so lucky to be able to travel the world and play football at the same time … it just doesn’t get any better than this.
“I would like to thank the Wallerawang Bowling Club and Lithgow City Council for their financial support, and also my parents who have been great over the years … their support is really appreciated.”
While touring Brazil some of the highlights will be:
n Visiting Granja Comary, the Brazilian Football Training Centre where Brazilian stars train for World Cups.
n Got to a Brazilian National League game.
n Train with top Brazilian Futsal coaches at Minas Tenis Clube and Santo Antonio School.
n Play games at Varginha and Juiz de For a.
n Visit Gol Brasil, the Centre of Excellence in Football.
n Tour Rio de Janeiro and visit the world famous Christ on the Hill, Sugar Loaf and Maracana Stadium.
Megan is the daughter of Danny and Gail Embleton of Portland and is a former Lithgow La Salle student.
She has enjoyed representative success from an early age and is one of the up and coming football stars on the Australian scene.
She plays Premier League football with Western NSW Panthers Football Club and also plays futsal with Sutherland Shire in the Super League competition.
