Lithgow Tidy Towns has again taken out two awards in the Keep Australia Beautiful Awards at Tamworth by gaining second in its category and first for Mt Kanimbla Landcare Group.
Mt Kanimbla Landcare planted 55,000 trees across neighbouring properties, converting bare land into tree covered areas full of wildlife over a 10-year period.
Mrs Sue Graves, Chairperson Lithgow Tidy Towns Committee congratulated the Mt Kanimbla group members for their foresight and hard work over the years.
Mrs Graves presented the Overall Tidy Towns second place award plaque to the Mayor Neville Castle at the Council meeting on Monday night for attachment on the columns at the entrance to the Council Chambers in Mort Street.
Since becoming involved in Tidy Towns in 1987 Lithgow has now received 66 awards.
Over 50 members from Cullen Bullen, Portland, Rydal, Wallerawang and Lithgow Tidy Towns Committees travelled to the Tamworth awards sponsored by Delta Electricity.
Their generous support enables so many to attend and gain valuable first hand insights into what other towns and villages in NSW are doing.
