IN the same week as details have been announced for their new $5 million campus building the second annual intake of medical students have taken up their places at the University of Notre Dame Rural Medical School in Lithgow.
The final year students were welcomed to Lithgow at a social function hosted by Cr Ray Thompson and wife Anne at Marrangaroo Fields.
Also welcomed were a number of new full time administrative officers who have now taken up their position in Lithgow, including new Executive Officer Alison Holley who was appointed following the departure of Sebastian Caruso.
The level of hospitality was a fitting welcome to the students many, if not all, of whom had not previously spent any time in this district.
If the experience of last year’s first intake is any criteria both the students and Lithgow should mutually benefit over the next few months.
The students will be studying both ‘on the job’ at Lithgow Hospital and in temporary facilities provided at the hospital.
