EACH step taken on Wednesday got 10 walkers a foot closer to their goal.
The walkers were participating in the Mudgee to Sydney (M2S) walk to raise funds for Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
Walking from Cullen Bullen to Lithgow on day three of their walk the walkers were battered with cold wind and rain, but it didn’t dampen their spirits.
“It’s all good fun,” organiser Katrina Hemingway said.
Joining the group for day three and four of their walk were Portland’s Barry Rochester and Cullen Bullen’s Glynn ‘Chewy’ Baynham.
Walking with MS, Barry has already raised $8200 for the cause.
“I have raised that to date and I am still looking for more.
“I have sent letters out to the coal mines but I have only heard back from Angus Place so far who gave us $1000, so hopefully I will hear from the others soon and hopefully they will donate something, or even match Angus Place’s donation for our cause,” Mr Rochester said.
The group are hoping to raise $100,000 on the walk and said they are now about $15,000 off their mark.
“Anyone can feel free to sponsor us and help us reach our goal,” Mrs Hemingway said.
“We are seeing great support from the local communities, and there are still opportunities for people to join us on the walk if they would like to.”
Tonight, proceeds from the Mount Vic Flicks showing of Creation will go to-wards the M2S walkers.
Support vehicle driver Mike Hemingway said they were welcoming anyone who wanted to join them tonight.
“There are still spaces to purchase your tickets, and we are really interested in anyone joining us,” Mr Hemingway said.
Walkers said they aim to walk around 25 km a day and complete the walk in 11 days, with a total length of 270 km.
Mrs Hemingway is organising the walk to raise funds for the MS society because her husband suffers from the disease.
Mr Hemingway is actively assisting by coordinating the support crew.
