THE future for Lithgow is crystal clear and so is the effluent with the completion of Lithgow’s new sewerage treatment facility.
The facility was officially opened by Minister for Primary Industries and Minister for Small Business Katrina Hodgkinson who was joined by Member for Bathurst Paul Toole and Lithgow mayor Neville Castle.
“It gives me great pleasure to officially open the Lithgow Sewerage Augmentation Scheme,” Ms Hodgkinson said.
“The upgraded sewerage scheme provides additional treatment capacity, with a higher level of treatment and a more sustainable effluent management, to better protect public health and the sensitive environment of Sydney’s drinking water catchment.”
With this being only the second upgrade in 80 years the plant’s capacity is 23,000 equivalent persons, or about six million litres of sewerage a day which will meet the needs of Lithgow for the next 30 years and allow for future growth in the city.
