FATHER of four and Mayor of Cabonne Kevin Duffy has been named as the ALP candidate to seek election to the newly defined seat of Calare at the coming Federal election.
Mr Duffy has already hit the campaign trail doorknocking in his home town of Borenore after winning preselection.
After just one term in Macquarie, Lithgow, Oberon and Bathurst will be returning to Calare at the election.
Sitting Member for Calare John Cobb has retained Nationals endorsement.
Kevin Duffy said yesterday that having raised his family locally with his wife Sandra, he understands the needs of people who live in Calare.
“I am ready to work with everyone, whether Labor, National, Liberal or independent, to help get Calare the support it deserves,” Mr Duffy said.
Mr Duffy said he is particularly passionate about working with Kevin Rudd to deliver infrastructure projects to support jobs locally.
“As a local Mayor, I know how important it is to invest in rural and regional areas,”
Mr Duffy said.
“I love this area, and I will work hard to make our community an even better place to live and raise a family,” Mr Duffy said.
Mr Duffy was formally endorsed by the NSW Labor Administrative Committee on Friday June 5.
