IT was the first day on the job yesterday for staff of the Central West Community College in their role as local provider of the Australian Government’s new Job Services Australia program.
The new national employment services initiative commences this month offering more tailored support for job seekers to prepare for local jobs and connect with local employers.
In Lithgow the service has moved into the Industry House premises in Main Street (opposite the Mercury Office) where the ground floor has undergone extensive internal renovations.
The building was previously used by the Club Revive fitness centre that has since moved to the old RSL Club.
Across the region the CWCC yesterday also opened offices in Bathurst, Cowra, Parkes, Mudgee, Forbes and Orange.
According to spokesman Marissa Clift the new Lithgow office will expand the range of services previously available for Lithgow.
CWCC had previously provided Australian Apprenticeship Centre services to Greater Lithgow and industry based training for local mines as well as tenancy advice and advocacy and disability employment services.
Job Services Australia replaces seven previous employment programs including Job Network, Work For The Dole , Personal Support Program and JPET.
