CENTENNIAL Coal has won the Large Host Employer of the Year Award at the NSW Group Training Awards, held recently at a gala dinner in Sydney.
Centennial Coal was nominated by Skillset (previously known as Central West Group Apprentices), who have partnered with the organisation for more than 15 years; working together to train a diverse range of trainees, cadets and apprentices.
Skillset and Centennial Coal have successfully introduced more than 100 individuals into the workforce in the past five years alone.
Among those who attended the awards ceremony were Fiona Van Der Velden and Craig Gillard from Centennial Coal along with Ben Bardon, Alyssa Bennett, Allison Jones and Erin Case from Skillset.
Centennial Coal provides a variety of on the job training within the mining industry such as mechanical engineering, black coal operations, and surveying.
Currently Centennial Coal has nine underground coal mines, two new mine projects and a mine extension project under way making them one of NSW’s largest coal producers.
The organisation has enjoyed an ongoing business relationship with Skillset and is committed to providing local trainees, apprentices and cadets with a comprehensive educational and training program to ensure a rewarding and positive future.
